A few thoughts on fashion’s inspired Belgian designer, Martin Margiela and his new collection.
Somewhere between the past and the future of fashion lies the Artisanal collection of Maison Martin Margiela’s Ligne 1.
The ideas in the collection may not translate to our everyday closet, but looking at the inspiration and utility of his mixed mediums, there are some exciting thoughts as to where fashion, design and ideas can take us, as something old creates something new.
Not only does Margiela fuse reuse with new fabrics and concepts, his collaboration with Swarovski created, Crystalacite, fusing crystal with white resin. Without the use of glue, the project comes up with couture quality results, that can be applied to the every day.
As past and future come together in this genre of mixed use, mixed trends and mixed media, the ideas speak to now, with nods in all the right directions.
