Thoughts on being back at blogging :
At first it was an anonymous daily experiment to see if I could muster the personal discipline to be consistent, but three months have gone by quickly. I had help with contributions from Shaun Bybee who now lives in Lyon, France. She spent many years in the fashion and beauty world, later co-founding and running a successful photography studio in San Francisco, and then creating a biodynamic, organic winery in Sonoma County. For 20-something years she was as close as a walk or a car ride…now we use WordPress, Skype, and Facebook to find each other. Therein lies part of the amazement of the world we live in.
It’s been about 8 years or so that the internet has been part of my daily work life. But it’s blogging in 2011, that has truly connected me to the power of the internet, the breadth of connection worldwide, and the sheer tsunami of humanity that may or many not understand how big it all is. On a daily basis, I stop to consider who might be reading this. It’s mysterious and magical on some level : how we find those of likemind through a few clicks, following a thought or a prompt (how many tabs do you keep open on your browser/s?). People find mixingreality.com in many ways, and for years, Stumbleupon has been a source of research, enjoyment and connection. Currently it brings a world of people to this door who come because we share some sort of interest…this is part of the magic, and fuels my need to continue mixing reality.
