It’s April Fools Day, 2011. The New York Times reports :
The United States economy added 216,000 jobs in March, as the nation continues a modest recovery. Still, threats to a more robust recovery remain, including a surge in energy and food prices, with the possibility of disruptions in oil production in the Middle East continuing to weigh on the financial markets. State and local governments have also been shedding jobs as they grapple with budget woes.
So Peter Strange Yumi’s appropriated collages spoke to us today. Strange Yumi is a multimedia artist who also collaborates with poets to create soundscapes and video collages. We plan to feature some of his other works in a separate post, but for now his works utilizing Dorothea Lange’s infamous images seem especially poignant.
