First Look : Vogue Paris with new editor in chief Emmanuelle Alt

Emmanuelle Alt‘s first issue as editor in chief of Vogue Paris hits newsstands on March 25, 2011.   Alt , who was appointed editor in chief of Vogue Paris in January,  after the departure of Carine Roitfeld in December 2010.  In the editorial for the April issue she writes:  “A Vogue that heralds spring and a new wind blowing.  Bohemian Spirit,  Frontier,  white graphics and dynamic fashion …  the energy of desire that occupies the land.”

WWD writes:  “Alt ushers in expanded beauty coverage showcased in the magazine’s well; less-cluttered layouts and typography; a stronger commitment to feature articles; a clutch of new freelance sittings editors, and — lo and behold — less skin. “I want to show in French Vogue more and more a lot of clothes,” Alt said”.
A changing of the guard, fashion guard that is…  Here’s some of the speculation, and now only time will tell if this former fashion editor can fill these big shoes.

Karl Lagerfeld :“Her style is her big shoulders, long legs, tight jeans, sleeves up to the elbow, one hip out,” the designer said. “I personally like her. She’s a handsome French woman. She has a style, but is it enough to make a whole magazine?”

Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin :“She has an innate sense of chic and has a very clear vision of who the Paris Vogue woman is. The shoots we have done with Emmanuelle are always just like her: superfun, supercool and superfashion,” van Lamsweerde and Matadin said in an e-mail.

Mario Sorrenti
: “Emmanuelle is one of the most talented editors. I love working with her.”

For being hailed as trés chic + “superfun, supercool and superfashion”, Emmanuelle sure looks superlaidback + supernormal, which perhaps is simply super.
